Nissan Kicks – the five seater SUV is set to arrive in India before Diwali, this year. Alfonso Albaisa, Executive Design Director, Nissan Group has confirmed that the India based Nissan Kicks will be different from the International spec Kicks. The India spec Nissan Kicks will be based on the BO platform of the Renault Captur in order to limit the price. Besides that the SUV will come equipped with a host of onboard connectivity technology options.
The upcoming Nissan Kicks will be positioned as a premium SUV in the company’s line up and will be based on the Japanese carmaker’s newest design philosophy. The four – wheeler will come with V-motion grille, wrap around head and tail lamps and a floating D pillar. Besides that the Nissan Kicks SUV will come equipped with a host of features including the LED projector headlamps, traction control, stability control, ISOFIX child seat anchors and multiple airbags. The SUV will be availble in 12 exterior colour options. It will be offered with a floating roofline and a rear roof spoiler and the SUV sits on 17 inch alloy wheels. The interior of the upcoming five seater SUV will be more stylish and spacious. Features in the cabin include push start and stop navigation, reverse camera, premium leather upholstery and a touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Nissan Kicks will be offered with both diesel and petrol engines options in the markets of India. It will come powered by a 1.5 litre dCi diesel engine, which churns out a power of 110 PS and produces a peak torque of 245 Nm. A five speed manual transmission comes paired to it. On the other hand its 1.5 litre petrol engine will be capable of developing a power of 106 PS and producing a peak torque of 142 Nm. The petrol engine will get the option of manual as well as CVT transmission. The All Wheel drive option which was seen on the Renault Duster will be offered on the India based Nissan Kicks as well.
The India based model will be slightly different from the International model in terms of design and it will be more spacious. The five – seater SUV is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh in the country. When launched in the Indian markets, the Nissan Kicks will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Renault Captur, Maruti Suzuki Vitara, Volkswagen T-Cross, Maruti Suzuki S Cross and the upcoming Kia SP concept based SUV.
