After a gap of five years, the Japanese automaker Nissan is going to hit the Indian roads in 2018 with its new Kicks Crossover as said by Guillaume Sicard, Ex-President of Nissan India. Nissan is also going to enter a collaboration with Datsun to launch a new product before the introduction of the Kicks. It has already been introduced globally, where the SUV is based on V platform.
In order to limit the price , in India, the automakers will use the B0 platform of the Renault Duster. The engine options for the Kicks are 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 104 bhp and 142 Nm of torque and the 1.5 litre diesel engine giving a power output of 108 bhp and 240 Nm of torque. The petrol engine will be having 5 speed manual transmission system whereas the diesel one will come mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox. The city mileage and highway mileage of the diesel engine is 8.1 kmpl and 9.6 kmpl respectively whereas the petrol one gives 11.4 kmpl and 13.7 kmpl respectively. An all wheel drive isn’t expected in India. The car is expected to hit the top speed of 180 kmph, with an accelaration of 0- 100 kmph in 13 seconds.
The V-motion grille and the Nissan themed crossover design will be used in the automobile. Funky designing will be used to make the automobile look unique and different. Dual airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control, seat belts with pre tensioners and ISOFIX child mounts are the safety features introduced in the Kicks. The dimensions of the car is ,4295 mm in length ,1760 mm in width, and 1590 mm in height. The wheelbase is expected to be 2610 mm. The ground clearance will be around 200 mm. The bootspace will be 452 litres.
Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross, Honda BR-V and the Renault Captur are the probable rivals the Nissan Kicks will face in the Indian market. The Kicks will bear a price tag ranging from Rs. 9.5 lakhs to Rs. 14.5 lakhs ex showroom. The automobile will be produced at the Renault-Nissan facility in Chennai.
