Maruti Suzuki has launched an official teaser of the upcoming WagonR, and they’re calling it the Big new WagonR. We have already shown you the spy images of WagonR caught while testing more than once.
Today officially a teaser was released from Maruti. In the picture, you can see the tallboy design and tall vertical tail light which gives it a different look from the ongoing WagonR. The ‘Big New WagonR’ as Maruti calls it sure looks bigger an spacious than before.
It gets new headlamps, splashes of chrome here and there, the front grill is now wider and the C-pillar is blacked out for that floating roof effect. The new WagonR sure looks exciting from the exterior, but that’s not all.
Interior gets major enhancement and features too. You’re greeted with a roomier cabin with the dual-tone interior and beige and brown upholstery. Steering wheel gets the steering mounted controls. The instrument panel gets a redesigned speedometer and a small circular MID, there’s no tachometer though. The infotainment system gets a new updated with a 7-inch touchscreen unit which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It has 12v charging sockets as well as electric ORVMs.
The new WagonR gets safer improved platform as per the upcoming crash norms. As standard, it will get front Airbag, speed sensing auto door lock, reverse parking sensors, and high-speed alert.
The engine is improved too. The new WagonR will get a 1.2-liter petrol engine borrowed from the Swift. This engine will only be available for the top end variants. Other variants will be powered by the older 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine from the K-Series. Maruti will offer 5-speed manual and also a AMT will be offered. The 1.0-litre petrol engine makes 67bhp and 90Nm of torque, while the 1.2-lire unit offers 89bhp and 113Nm of torque.
Maruti will offer WagonR in 3 trimes – Lxi, Vxi and Zxi, with 6 color options -Nutmeg Brown, Autumn Orange,Silky Silver, Superior White, Magma Grey, and Poolside Blue. Thew new WagonR will be launched on January 23 and deliveries will start soon after. It will rival Hyundai Santro, Renault Kwid, Datsun Go and Tata Tiago.
