Maruti Suzuki India Limited is set to launch the all-new WagonR on 23rd of January. Maruti today announced that the bookings for the same had opened. You can book your WagonR online or at a dealer near you by paying INR 11,000.
The new WagonR is based on the 5th gen HEARTECT platform. It gets driver airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, front seatbelts reminder, speed warning system as standard. The lower variants are powered by the same 1.0 litre 3 cylinder engine and the higher variants will be powered by a 1.2 Litre petrol engine that powers the swift. The 1.0-litre petrol engine makes 67bhp and 90Nm of torque, while the 1.2-lire unit offers 89bhp and 113Nm of torque.
Six colours are on offer on the new WagonR viz., Superior White, Silky Silver, Magma Grey, Autumn Orange, Nutmeg Brown and Poolside Blue. The new WagonR measures 3655 X 1620 X 1675 mm(LxWxH). Wheelbase is a huge 2435 mm. It gets a blackened B and C pillar for a floating roof effect. The rear lights are elongated and it also gets a rear windscreen washer and wiper.
The interior gets a new dual tone brown and beige colour. The infotainment system gets a new updated with a 7-inch touchscreen unit which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It gets electrically adjustable mirrors, power windows, a 12 V socket for charging mobile phones, manual AC and multi-function steering wheel.
The ‘Big New WagonR’ as Maruti calls it sure looks bigger and spacious than before. Headroom, Shoulder room and the boot space have increased in the new WagonR. Maruti Suzuki also claims that the use of high tensile steel has resulted in better safety and NVH levels.
The outgoing WagonR is priced between 4.2 lacs – 5.4 Lacs. We can assume that the new WagonR will be priced slightly higher. It will rival the Tiago, i10 and the santro upon launch.
