The new Maruti Suzuki Alto has been spied again wearing black camouflage. Last month the new gen Alto was spotted on Kufri, Shimla wearing a black and white camouflage. The new generation Alto is the much improved version of the current Alto, which is on sale. Maruti Suzuki is mainly manufacturing the updated Alto in order to comply with the Bharat NCAP safety norms which the current gen Alto doesn’t meet. The auto maker will discontinue the current Alto once the new Bharat NCAP safety norms come into effect. The new gen Alto is likely to be priced around INR 3 lakhs.
The new Maruti Suzuki Alto is built on a micro crossover body style, inspired by the Future-S concept, which was showcased at the Auto Expo held in 2018. The car shows no similarity with the current gen Alto but under the camouflage it is seen to bear some resemblance to the Maruti Ignis. The new generation Maruti Suzuki Alto will be built based on Heartect platform, the same platform which share its underpinnings with the new Maruti cars like Ignis, Swift, Dzire, Baleno, WagonR.
On the exterior the new gen Alto sports projector headlamps with LED DRLs, larger wheels, LED tail lamps and rear parking sensors. Besides that the new Alto will be lighter than the current counterpart. The higher ground clearance and more spacious interiors gives a boxy appearance to the new Alto. The boot space on the car is also adjustable in order to accommodate more luggage. The interior of the new Maruti Suzuki Alto will be equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system with installed with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. The other interior features include a three spoke steering wheel, gear lever could be mounted on dashboard which offers better leg room and an LCD screen on instrument panel.
Under the bonnet, the new Maruti Suzuki Alto is powered by the same 800 cc and 1 litre engine, which is seen powering the current gen Alto. However, the engine powering the new gen Alto will be modified to meet the new BSVI safety norms, making the motor more refined, more powerful and more fuel efficient. The standard safety features offered on the new Alto are ABS with EBD and dual air bags. When launch the new generation Maruti Suzuki Alto will complete on the likes of the Renault Kwid.
