The new Hyundai Santro official design render is released. Hyundai has revealed a sketch of a small car codenamed AH2. Although it is still not clear if Hyundai will retain the Santro branding.
The car in the discussion has been spied several times on the road in camouflage. The car appears to have a tall stance. The sketch reveals a few important design details like the sloping roofline and the well-designed shoulder line. It also appears to have a rear-mounted spoiler. The AH2 also gets large headlights and stylish fog lamps placed right beneath the headlights.
The new Hyundai Santro will also get revamped interiors. It will come with a 3-spoke steering wheel and a dash mounted gear lever similar to the i10. The seats will get fabric covering and the interiors are seen with a dual tone beige and black color scheme.
The new car is expected to run on the 1.0-liter engine. This engine will be similar to its competitors like the Renault Kwid. The car will also be offered in LPG and CNG options. The engine is expected to be paired with a manual or an automated manual transmission (AMT).
Expected pricing and competition
The car is expected to sit between the Eon and i10. Although it is expected to completely replace the Eon in the future. Hyundai is planning to price this car aggressively. They are also stepping up their pre launch marketing for this car. Hyundai is running a competition which lets the public choose a name for this car. The competition is helping Hyundai boost pre launch hype for this car. Hyundai is calling this car a ‘contemporary family car’. The car is expected to be priced between INR 3 lakh to 5 lakh. This will let the AH2 compete against cars like Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Datsun RediGo and the Tata Tiago.
Hyundai has an aggressive launch strategy for India in the future. It includes an electric SUV (Kona) and the sub-4-meter compact SUV known as the QXI.
