The new-generation production version of the Hyundai i20 has been leaked in terms of images. The company will showcase the car at 2020 Geneva Motor Show, starting from 5th March. The vehicle is already being tested and prepared for the final introduction. The images surfaced online, reveals the exterior and front fascia of the hatch, which looks splendid. We can say that it is a car worth waiting in the mid-specs Hyundai car.
The carmaker has offered a fantastic update to the new i20 that looks more sportier and modern. The major attraction is the 16-inches dual-tone alloy wheels and hook-shaped LED DRLs at the front fascia and the Z moulded LED DRLs at the back section. The production version i20 gets many interesting updates like honeycomb grille, slimmer Outer Rear View Mirrors along with turn indicators. It also gets a shark fin antenna, new bumpers and wider air intakes.
The cabin is still a secret. Although, the car was spotted while testing that revealed few interior bits. It is expected to get a larger floating touchscreen infotainment system along with an all-digital instrument screen. It can feature BlueLink connected car technology along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The additional interior features might include cruise control, climate control, a sunroof, a wireless phone charger and keyless entry with push-button start.
The carmaker will enhance the safety features on its upcoming lineup. It will come with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera as standard. The technical specifications are not yet revealed. However, the India-spec i20 can be powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, making 83PS power and the 1.0-litre Turbo-petrol unit delivering 125PS of power, inspired by Venue.
The company will not upgrade its 1.4-litre CRDI unit to BS6 norms. It can come with a 1.5-litre diesel engine which is offered in Kia Seltos. Hyundai can launch the new-gen i20 this year. It will compete against the likes of Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo after the launch. The hatch is likely to be priced between Rs 5.5 lakhs to Rs 9.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
