Dacia has showcased the all-new Duster at the ongoing Geneva International Motor Show. It is very likely to make its way to India during the 2019 festive season. The new duster has been spied testing in India under heavy camouflage.
Speaking about the front end, the Duster gets a new bumper with silver skid plates and a new grille design. The headlamp cluster is also re-worked with LED DRLs. There is also a newly appointed bonnet, that has a pronounced bulge. The bonnet also sits high in comparison to the current model. The front bumper neatly flows into the butch wheel arches. Together, they give the Duster a proper SUV stance.
While the overall profile remains unchanged, the Duster now looks more mature and butch than ever. Step towards the side and you can see strong character lines along the door the merge into the rear wheel arch. There is also skid plates on the sides. The one showcased has a contrast-coloured wing mirror and roof rails. The alloy wheels sport a multiple-spoke, Y-shaped design.
The tailgate is now more sculpted in comparison to the current model. We can also see silver-coloured skid plates at the rear. The taillamp is really interesting to look at, with those concentric square patterns. This version of Duster could get a sunroof as an option, but we have to wait this one out. The rear wheel arch continues to the rear bumper and neatly flows into a line that runs across the tailgate.
Engine and Transmission options
Engine options will include the updated, BS-6 Compatible 1.5 Litre K9K Diesel and 1.5 Litre H4K Petrol engine. The lower-state-of-tune 85 BHP engine could be discontinued. Transmission options include a 5-Speed MT(Petrol), 6 Speed MT(Diesel), a CVT (Petrol) and AMT (Diesel).
Before the all-new duster comes to India, we might see Renault introduce an updated Duster to meet new safety norms. The new safety norms mandate the presence of rear parking sensors, seat belt alert, airbags and speed alert system as standard.
