Yamaha is spotted testing the new Yamaha R25 motorcycle in Indonesia. India release expected. The prototypes are seen testing with no camouflage, indicating imminent release.
The bikes look similar to the existing Yamaha YZF R3. It looks like a sportier version of the Yamaha YZF R15. The new design includes twin LED headlights and conforms to the current YZF design language. The air intake between the headlights is an added touch and is expected to work similarly like the unit on the R15 v3. The overall features are shared with the bigger Yamaha YZF R3.
The bike will get golden inverted front forks that will replace the telescopic ones on the older model. The bike might get a digital instrument cluster on the newer model. The fairing gets minor cosmetic updates over the outgoing model. The engine will receive minor technical changes. The 250cc motor is expected to churn out a maximum power of 35 bhp and a peak torque of 22.1 Nm. The Yamaha R25 if launched in India will compete against the likes of KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Benelli 302R and the TVS Apache RR 310.
Yamaha YZF R3 and R15 v3:
The Yamaha YZF R3 runs on a 321 cc parallel twin, liquid cooled engine. It produces 41bhp and 29.6Nm torque. Yamaha India also launched the updated R15 in India recently, The YZF R15 v3. This bike comes with a 155cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine. It produces 18.7bhp power (at 10,000RPM) and a peak torque of 15Nm (at 8,500RPM). It comes paired with a 6-speed transmission. The Yamaha YZF R3 costs INR 3,48,000. Yamaha YZF R15 v3 is currently priced at INR 1,26,000. Yamaha recently raised the price of the YZF R15 v3 by INR 2000 recently.
