The Mitsubishi Outlander has already hit the Indian markets, with a price tag of Rs. 32 lakhs (ex showroom). The car will be available in the topmost trim only. The Mitsubishi had discontinued their sales in India back in 2012 and now they are back with the monocoque bodied outlander, which bears similarity to the second gen models that were available in India.
The engine that is available for Indians is the 2.4 litre petrol one producing power around 167 Ps at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 222 Nm. The engine will be a 16 valve MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing and Electronic Control system) which gives quite a high mileage. A CVT unit will be given along with 6 speed paddle shifters. The SUV has an accelaration of 0-100 kmph in 11.1 secs. The Mitsubishi Outlander has three driving modes, the fuel efficient 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive and the Lock mode. The front suspension is handled by MacPherson strut with coil springs and stabilizer bar. On the other hand the rear suspension is managed by multi link with coil springs and stabilizer bar. The front and rear brakes are 16 inch ventilated disc type and 16 inch solid disc type respectively.
The car has an overall length of 4640 mm, the width of 1800 mm and height of 1680 mm. The wheel base is 2670 mm and the ground clearance is 215 mm. The car sits on 16 inch alloy wheels. The minimum turning radius is 5.3 m. The kerb weight of the SUV is 1602 kgs. The fuel tank capacity is 60 litres. Seven airbags, HSA(Hill start assent), ABS with EBD and ASC (active stability control) with TCL (traction control logic) are a few of the unique features of the Mitsubishi wonder. The interior of the car features a panaromic sunroof, 6.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 710W Rockford Fosgate sound system. The head and tail lamps are LED ones, DRLs are also offered. The car also has a dual zone climate control. Adaptive cruise control and Lane departure warning features ensure the safety of the automobile and its passengers.
The Mitsubishi outlander is expected to acquire rivals in Hyundai Tuscon and Jeep Compass. Fifth gen Honda CR-V and the Volkswagen Tiguan will also be potential competitors. The Mitusubishi Outlander is available in colours, Black Pearl, Orient Blue, Cosmic Red, Titanium Gray, White Solid, White Pearl and Cool Silver.
