The most recent to be launched SUV in India is the Mitsubishi Outlander. It is expected to be launched sometime in May 2018 and the price tag is expected to have an amount between Rs. 25 lakhs and Rs. 30 lakhs. The pre bookings for the third generation SUV has already begun. The Mitsubishi had discontinued their sales in India back in 2012 and now they are back with the monocoque bodied outlander, which bears similarity to the second gen models that were available in India.
The engine comes in two options, the 2.0 litre or the 2.4 litre producing power around 170 Ps at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 220 Nm. The engine will be a 16 valve MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing and Electronic Control system) which gives quite a high mileage, 8 kmpl for the city roads and 12 kmpl once it hits the highways. the system deserves praise for its fuel efficiency. A CVT unit will be given along with 6 speed paddle shifters. A standard four wheel drive will be offered too. The top speed of the car is 200 kmph and it accelarates from 0 to 100 kmph in 13 seconds. the Mitsubishi outlander has three driving modes, the fuel efficient 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive and the Lock mode. The car has an overall length of 4640 mm, the width of 1800 mm and height of 1680 mm. The wheel base is 2670 mm and the ground clearance is 215 mm. the car sits on 18 inch alloy wheels. The mitsubishi outlander is available in a single variant.
Seven airbags, HSA(Hill start assent), ABS with EBD and ASC (active stability control) with TCL (traction control logic) are a few of the unique features of the Mitsubishi wonder. The interior of the car features a panaromic sunroof, 6.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 710W Rockford Fosgate sound system. The head and tail lamps are LED ones, DRLs are also offered. The car also has a dual zone climate control. Adaptive cruise control and Lane departure warning features ensure the safety of the automobile and its passengers.
The Mitsubishi outlander is expected to acquire rivals in Hyundai Tuscon and Jeep Compass. Fifth gen Honda CR-V and the Volkswagen Tiguan will also be potential competitors.
