MG Motor will be unveiling their first vehicle for India, MG Hector on May 15. The launch will also happen soon after in June. After the unveiling the booking shall start and also the information about the dealers will be out.
Talking about the MG Hector, there have been various spy shots of the Hector exterior as well as interiors. Coming to the design first, MG Hector will be a large SUV in its segment. With a length of 4,655mm, 1,835mm width and 1,760mm height, the SUV have pretty big dimensions. The front gets a massive blacked-out grille with MG(Morris Garages) logo. There a chrome strip running around the grille and wrapping up the LED DRLs. It also gets quad LED projector lamp setup for headlight cluster and LED fog lamps up front. The tail unit of the Hector is also a LED one.
The Hector sits on 10 spoke dual tone alloy wheels which give it a great look. While Hector does pack quite a lot of features inside the cabin too. Probably the main highlight of the Hector when sitting inside will be the massive vertically placed 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will also come pre-loaded with apps like AccuWeather and Gaana.com. The system runs the iSmart system that the SUV offers. It is an android based system and also gets the option to put a sim. There are voice assist commands and even Artifical intelligence features in it. The voice commands are over 100 to perform various functions.
Other features include a 360 camera, in the huge touchscreen itself. The instrument cluster will also be a digital unit. It gets a flat bottomed 3-spoke steering wheel with various buttons on it, a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, Tyre pressure monitoring system(TPMS), and a huge panoramic sunroof. The interior can get an all-black treatment.
MG Hector will be powered by a 1.5 turbo-petrol which will make about 141bhp and 250Nm of torque. MG Hector will also come with a 2.0 liter Diesel unit, which will make around 171bhp and 350Nm of torque. Both the engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual. The SUV can also get a mild hybrid system with start/stop system and regenerative braking. This will allow the car to benefit under the FAME II scheme.
The SUV will soon launch in June after the reveal in May 2019. It is expected to be priced between 13-18 lakhs and will rival Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass.
