Morris Garages has finally launched the most-awaited Hector SUV in the Indian market. The company is finally in the country with its first model. The prices of the all-new SUV starts from Rs 12.18 lakh. The car is available in four variants and with three gearbox options. It is introduced in Style, Super, Smart and Sharp variants and a total of 11 configurations.
The stylish Hector SUV looks amazing with the bold looking front. In the cabin, the car is integrated with a large10.4-inch iSmart touchscreen infotainment system which supports tons of features including Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, AI-powered voice assists, pre-loaded apps and an installed Airtel SIM card. It also has a facility to upgrade the software through over-the-air (OTA) downloads. The standard safety features include ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, dual front airbags, hill hold and traction control.
The top-spec Sharp variant of Hector comes with additional features such as 360-degree camera, a four-way power adjustable co-driver seat, a large panoramic sunroof, six airbags, heated exterior mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, and mood lighting eight shades. It sits on larger 17-inch alloys wheels. The all-new MG Hector is the country’s segment-first 48V Hybrid SUV which is equipped with a regenerative braking system.
The MG Hector draws power from an FCA-based 2.0-litre, diesel unit which generates 170hp of power and 350Nm of peak torque. While the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine makes 143hp of power and 250Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are combined with a 6-speed manual transmission, on the other hand, the turbo-petrol unit comes with 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox option. The 6-speed manual gearbox is available with 48V mild-hybrid petrol unit which is developed to offer more fuel efficiency.
The mild-hybrid variant is capable of making up to 20Nm of extra torque at low speeds which will assist to gain turbo lag and provide enhanced acceleration. It has received an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency at 13.96kpl for the petrol and dual-clutch auto variant, 14.16kpl for the petrol-manual, 15.81kpl for the petrol-hybrid and 17.41kpl for the diesel unit.
MG Hector is introduced in 5 attractive shades: Candy White, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, Starry Black and Burgundy Red. It measures 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in weight. The wheelbase and ground clearance are 2,750mm and 192mm, respectively. The boot space is also widened to 587 kgs. You can buy the SUV from any 50 MG dealerships in India. The company has announced maintenance plans of up to 5 years that starts at Rs 8,000. The plans include Classic, Classic 360, Premium and Premium 360.

MG Hector also comes with a 5-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and 5-year/unlimited kilometre roadside assistance scheme. It is developed at the company’s plant in Halol, Gujarat. They have already received more than 10,000 bookings for all-new Hector which indicates the high-demand of the car in India. Hector rivals against the likes of Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and upcoming Kia Seltos in the Indian market.
