MG Hector SUV - Images And Connectivity Features Revealed

A lot of details about the MG Hector SUV’s connectivity features have been revealed at the DriveIn event today. Together with the connectivity features, the official images of the SUV were also revealed. The Hector SUV is scheduled to be launched by June 2019. The SUV is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 15 – 20 lakhs.

On the exterior, the MG Hector SUV sports LED headlamps, slim LED DRLs, a split roof spoiler, chrome encased mesh grille with a MG logo, a light bar that connects the SUV’s rear lamps and faux skid plates at the front and rear. The Hector SUV sits on diamond cut alloy wheels. Moving to the interior, the SUV features a Harman infinity audio system, a 360 degree camera, push button start, cruise control, keyless entry, a tyre – pressure monitoring system and a six way power adjustable driver’s seat.

The connectivity features on the MG Hector SUV includes pre installed apps, AI – powered voice assist and over the air technology. The SUV will come with the iSMART Next Gen technology feature, the head of which is placed on the 10.4 inch head unit. The screen is designed with vertical interface with touch/voice recognition. The iSMART Next Gen technology gets an embedded M2M sim. The iSMART tech will be installed with TomTom’s real time navigation application, ganna app and Accuweather. The navigation app regularly updates maps and routes while the ganna app helps to access music and the weather app provides the weather forecasts. The voice assist feature on the MG Hector is compatible with more than 100 commands including the ac control, navigation, opening and closing of doors, windows and sunroof.

Powering the MG Hector’s will be a 1.5-litre, 143hp turbo-petrol, and a 2.0-litre, FCA-sourced diesel. Both the engines will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission but the turbo-petrol will also get the option of a six-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. A 48 volt mild hybrid motor is likely to be on offer which is claimed to be 12 percent more fuel efficient than the petrol variant.

With an embedded SIM card and OTA, the MG Hector promises to do a lot more over time with constantly-expanding capabilities, to create a seamless driving experience, throughout the life of the car,” said Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India. “Furthermore, with the advent of 5G connectivity in India, MG cars will have the potential to add new, breakthrough features to further enrich the car driving experience,” Chaba added.
