MG Motors is gearing up to enter the Indian market with the Hector SUV. Recently, the Hector was caught undisguised in the UK while filming for the TVC. We were also the first to report that the Hector might feature a hybrid powertrain. Now, a post on the Team-BHP forum hints about the pricing of the Hector SUV.
The Hector will be priced in the range similar to the Tata Harrier and the Mahindra XUV500. This suggests that the prices could start at INR 13 Lakhs and could go all the way up to 18Lakhs for the top of the line variant. The SUV is expected to be launched at the end of May, with deliveries beginning at the end of June.
The Hector will have both the petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol motor will be a 1.5 L turbocharged unit while the diesel unit is 2 L unit from FCA. This Diesel motor is the same engine that does its duty in the Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass. While the petrol engine develops 143bhp and 250Nm of torque, the diesel motor is likely to produce around 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. The Hector will also receive in-house produced automatic and 6-Speed manual transmissions.
Dr. Strange and MG Hector
MG motors have also roped in Benedict Cumberbatch as its brand ambassador in India. His stardom from the Avengers movie franchise and Sherlock TV series will for sure play a role in helping the reach of the MG Brand.
Benedict Cumberbatch said, “I have grown up seeing and reading about MGB’s and MG Midgets, recognizing MG as a classic and iconic brand. I am delighted to be part of the launch of the new MG in India with the MG Hector, which may well be a classic of the future.”
