The Kia Carnival grabbed a lot of attention in the luxury MPV segment. Now the SAIC owned MG is keen on getting their share of the market with the showcase of the MG G10. The G10 in a few words said is a massive MPV designed to move people around in luxury and comfort. SAIC sells the G10 under the Maxus badging in China.
MG G10 is on display at the Auto Expo 2020 to gauge interest from the people which will help them in deciding in bringing the car to India. The G10 is longer and taller than the Carnival. It also has a longer wheelbase. It will run on either a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine or a 1.9-liter diesel engine. The petrol motor makes about 224PS of power and also 345Nm torque. The diesel motor, on the other hand, puts out 150PS of power and 350Nm of torque.
The new G10 is also feature packed. It gets connected car technology, 3-piece panoramic sunroof, automatic sliding doors and also a 360-degree camera. The variant on display here at the Auto Expo 2020 featured 4 rows of seating with both the second and third-row having captain seats. However, the MPV can also be customized with either a 7-seater or a 9-seater option. The infotainment system looked to be much smaller than the unit found on the Hector,
Being in the entry level premium MPV segment, we can expect the MPV to sell starting at Rs 20 – 25 lakh. This might under cut the price of the Kia Carnival and will be closer to the Toyota Innova Crysta.
