Mercedes GLS: Mercedes-Benz will launch the next-gen GLS edition later this year. It was also spied testing ahead of the launch in Nürburgring. The top-spec SUV comes in a husky design which looks identical to the latest GLE, that is also expected to be introduced this year. At present, the company is busy in the production of the upcoming latest new GLS SUV. The next model will be GLS which will be introduced in 2018. As per reports, the design and features of the upcoming GLS SUV are inspired by the S-Class sedan range. The GLS will pack many mindblowing updated safety features which are remarkable.
As said earlier, the features of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz car will be inspired by the S-Class sedan range. Like S-Class flagship variant, it will be equipped with the same powertrain and feature autonomous driving technology. The exterior layout of the SUV will be somewhat based on the future GLE. The latest GLS will be available in 6 and 8-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, 6-cylinder turbo-diesel, and petrol-electric plug-in hybrid variants. The top-spec S63 AMG model will be also powered by the identical 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 from the which will deliver 620bhp power.
The interior, as well as exterior design, will be same compared to S-Class. However, the latest model of the Mercedes-Benz will be seen with the modified exterior body which is now husky and attractive is appearance. It is equipped with a powerful motor under the hood. At the front, it has a decorated design of the radiator grille which is attached with the big signature emblem of the company. It sits on all-new 10-spoke light-alloy wheels. It is outfitted with LED Intelligent Light system with headlamp enclosed in the black circle.
In terms of cabin features and technology are also somewhat similar. Although, its cabin will be more extravagance and superior than the current model. It will sport the all-new Distronic Active Proximity Control (DAPC) and Active Steer Assist Systems which assist the vehicle to accelerates or utilize brakes for maintaining constant speed limits. However, this feature will be restricted to merely 30 seconds. The seat is comfortable with the rear seat entertainment system. It will come with thermotronic 3 zone luxury automatic climate control. The display will support smartphone link and navigation as well.
The existing Mercedes-Benz GLS is powered by a 3.0-litre, V6 engine for diesel as well as petrol versions. The Diesel motor delivers 258bhp of max power and 620Nm of peak torque, whereas the petrol engine makes 333bhp max power and 480Nm of peak torque. The diesel, as well as petrol variant, is combined with a 9G-Tronic Automatic Transmission. The existing GLS has received a price tag of INR 82.90 lakh so, the upcoming model will cost more than that. The upcoming GLS will lock horns against Audi Q7 and the BMW X5.
