Today Mercedes has taken off the covers from their latest AMG offering. Yes, we are talking about the G63 AMG. Recently we showcased you the Brabus 700 while that won’t make it to India. But AMG version of the G63 has arrived and its a powerhouse.
The G-Wagon as everybody loves to call it is available at a Rs 2.19 Crores. But if you can afford it, you get a tough old-school SUV that can do 0-100 in just 4.5 seconds! That’s faster than some sedans let alone SUV standards.
Coming to the exterior it features a bit curvier boxy styling. The AMG body style offers an AMG-specific front apron and radiator trim, trim insert in the exterior protective strip, AMG flared wheel arches, striking sidepipes and red-painted brake calipers. The radiator trim gets the central star in high-gloss chrome. Mercedes even lets you choose from different wheel options. 20, 21 and 22-inch alloy wheels. Top of the line 22 inch forged blacked out alloy wheels look the best.
The ladder frame chassis is now wider than before. So the width of the car has gone up by 210mm. With a reworked suspension, the Ground clearance now stands at 241mm.
Inside it gets newly designed seats with Nappa leather with engraved “AMG” badge. The Instrument cluster is an 11.4 cm TFT multifunction display. It offers Race Timer measure and store lap times. Furthermore, it gets the Performance steering wheel in carbon fiber for sports driving, the grip area is finished in DINAMICA microfibre. Also, Silver-coloured aluminum shift paddles for better control. It gets AMG solid stainless steel door sill. Finally, an elegant AMG-specific analog clock completes the retro charm.
The powertrain is a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine delivering 430 kW (585 hp) with 850Nm of torque. it gets twin-scroll turbochargers. While top speed is electronically limited to 220km/h. But you can get the optional AMG Driver’s Package to increase it to 240km/h. Cylinder shut-off feature under less load gives greater efficiency. Mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 9G-TRONIC With 9 gears and double-declutching function. Consequently it gets AMG Performance Exhaust system with twin pipes coming out from the side.
For off-road terrain, the G-Class gets the 4MATIC all-wheel drive, differential locks, a low-range gearbox. The new Mercedes G-Wagon competes with Range Rover SVR.
