Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd unveiled first-ever Electric Technology Manufacturing Hub in Karnataka. The new facility in Bengaluru will be used under Mahindra’s +ME brand. They also rolled out its first lithium-ion electric 3 wheeler range, +ME Treo and Treo Yaari.

Bengaluru, known as the EV capital of the country, is now home to the first of its kind electric vehicle manufacturing facility in the country. The facility has an investment of INR 100 crore. The facility manufactures battery packs, power electronics, and motor assembly. The plant will also increase the manufacturing of Mahindra Electric to 25,000 every year. In addition to this, it will also provide employment to around 200 people.

+ME Treo range of electric vehicles:

The Treo range of vehicles is electric three-wheelers. The variants include Treo electric auto and Treo Yaari electric rickshaw. Mahindra also announced that these vehicles will cost an attractive Rs. 1.36 lakhs ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME subsidy.

These new vehicles will use lightweight and composite body panels. They also have a certified range of 170 kilometers. Mahindra also claims it has best in class comfort for passengers with one of the most spacious interiors in the segment. Its clutch-less, noiseless and vibration free drive will also help the driver.

It also boasts Zero maintenance, lithium-ion battery for more than 5 years of life. It also features remote monitoring of range, speed, location and more under the Next Generation Mobility (NEMO) optional feature. The interior gets an LCD display too.

The Treo is powered by a 7.47 kW Lithium-Ion battery. It produces a power of 5.4 kW and a peak torque of 30Nm. The Treo Yaari, on the other hand, runs on a 3.69 kW lithium-ion battery which manages a power output of 2 kW and 17.5Nm torque. The 7.47 kW battery takes about 3 hours 50 minutes for a full charge.

The vehicles will be available at select dealerships across Bengaluru and Hyderabad in the first phase. It will be available in other cities later.
