In 2007 Maserati introduced the GranTurismo, A Grand tourer from the Italian house with staggering performance. To end this production run of a memorable car, Maserati introduced a new variant called GranTurismo Zeda with three colors paint scheme. The paint starts from blue at the front and slowly transitioning to grey at the side and to silver at the rear.
In its 12 years long run Maserati Zeda mark the end of the production to make way for a new performance sports car. Zeda color schemes tell the change of the era, through which Maserati wants to convey that its ready for the future. So what are their future plans? You might have guessed, even the Maserati is going electric. Not any hybrid solution they plan to bring full electric powertrain to the next generation of GranTurismo. So the name will remain, but that sweet Ferrari V8 will be replaced by electric motors.
The GranTurismo was the best of both worlds, designed by Pininfarina and a sweet V8 from the Ferrari. The 4.6-liter engine makes 460hp at 7,000 rpm and 520 Nm of maximum torque at 4,750 rpm. It revs up to 7,500rpm, and all the power is sent to rear wheels! 0-100 takes 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 299km/h. It comes mated to a ZF six-speed MC Auto Shift gearbox.
Maserati sold more than 40,000 units of GranTurismo and GranCabrio combined. The new sports car is scheduled to reveal next year in 2020. The new GranTurismo will be the first model from Maserati to get a 100% electric drive. As we can see that even the car which is not mass-market is shifting to electric. Though it will be hard to forget the sweet V8 GranTurismo had, we hope the upcoming electric powertrain will be faster and thrilling.
