Maruti Suzuki XL6 based on the new Ertiga landed a good enough experiment for Maruti Suzuki to try another one. The theory is simple, selling a more premium variant of the car, with the same platform and engine options, and adding that extra flair to be marketed as a different car. It also helps Maruti Suzuki to expand the list of cars in NEXA.
Buyers who liked the Ertiga but wanted to stand out from the same car that will be used by commercial markets bought the XL6. The newest entrant to follow this idea is the popular tallboy from Maruti Suzuki stable, yes the WagonR. The WagonR will be called the XL5 and will be launched through NEXA.
Previously we showed you the pictures of the XL5 side by side the WagonR. Now some new spy pics of XL5 have emerged on the internet. The images show the front of the vehicle and we can see that the XL5 has a different headlight setup. Inspired from the outgoing trend the headlight is below on the bumper and above that resides sleek looking indicators along with DRLs. Also, the grille setup appears to be different than the WagonR. You also have the fog lamps placed on the bumper.
As we know the rear of the car also gets the LED treatment along with the LED stop lamp. No information is yet out about the interior of the vehicle but following what NEXA did to Ertiga, the XL5 can get all black premium interiors. The engine will remain the same, although the smaller 1.0-litre variant can be skipped. So the XL5 will come with 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol motor with a 5-speed gearbox and AMT as an option. The engine makes 82bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm at 4,200rpm. It will be BS-VI compliant.
