Good news for all Swift fans. Maruti Swift RS has been spied for the first time. After the great success of the new Swift model, the company could be working on the production of the RS variant. Swift is a mid-range model of Maruti Suzuki which has recorded an unbelievable sales in just 145 days. Although, the enthusiasts were eagerly waiting for the company to launch the sports variant of the car. The standard Swift was introduced as an entry-level hatch so, the range needed a high-performance variant.

According to the latest reports, the new Swift RS will be based on the Baleno RS in terms of technical specs. Although, the increase in the level of performance could result in the remarkable hike in the price. The main attraction of the new RS sports variant will be the powerful engine under the hood. The new version has been spotted in a black shiny exterior. It sits on 16-inch alloy wheels which is latest and not seen on previous models.

The front of the RS is not clearly visible in the spy shots, but it is expected to get new bumpers, side skirts, rear spoiler, and front grille. The interior could be equipped an advanced dash highlighting new instrument cluster. The cabin is also rumored to get a latest red-shaded center console and front door pads. However, the company has not announced anything about the new variant.

The new hatchback will be powered by a powerful 998cc Boosterjet K10C, three-cylinder, DOHC, direct-injected, turbocharged petrol motor which can generate 101bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 150Nm of peak torque at 1,700- 4,500rpm. The engine will be combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Swift RS will come with all-4 disc brakes. As said earlier, the mechanical specs of the vehicle are similar to Baleno RS. The Maruti Suzuki Swift RS is expected to be introduced at a price tag of around Rs. 8 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
