Some latest reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki can introduce its Swift RS in India. The new Swift will compete against the all-new Tiago JTP which is the most affordable hatchback in the market currently. There are some other popular hatchbacks in the Indian market like Maruti Baleno RS and Volkswagen GT TSI. With such strong competitors, it will be tough for Swift to grab the attention of the hatchback fans, only if launched in the country.
The Tiago JTP is the first passionate hatchback in the range to get an affordable price tag of just Rs 6.39 lakh. The all-new JTP has been placed above the robust Maruti Baleno RS. Maruti Suzuki can plan to introduce the Swift RS in the country just to maintain the price in the range. Swift is a more top-specs model compared to the Tiago JTP so, the Swift RS will be priced more as it comes with some remarkable interior and safety features.
Maruti Suzuki already sells the Swift RS in the global market as Swift Sport. However, it will be known as Swift RS and will be equipped with distinctive features and powertrain. In terms of design, Swift RS will come with a bold facia, not like the standard version. It will be equipped with a striking hood and rear bumpers, new exterior elements and roof-mounted spoiler. It will sit on 16-inch alloy wheels, new suspension and four disc brakes which will improve the efficiency and performance of the car.
The cabin is more premium compared to standard Swift. It will be integrated with comfortable seating and RS branding. It will get a blacked out cabin with Burning Red theme on the central console, instrument cluster, front doors and steering wheel. The Maruti Swift RS will be highly based on the Maruti Baleno RS. It will be powered by a 1.0L, 3-cylinder Boosterjet turbocharged petrol unit which generates101bhp power at 5,500rpm and 150Nm of torque at 1,750rpm- 4,500rpm.
The engine will be combined with a 5-speed manual transmission highlighting the front-wheel-drive system. The turbocharged petrol motor will claim 0-100kmph in 11 to 12 seconds. The hatchback claims a top speed of 160kmph. In India, the vehicle can be priced between Rs 15-20 lakhs. The ongoing petrol variant is available at Rs 7.31 lakhs. The car is expected to hit the market next year.
