The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is at present available as the diesel engine powered variant only. However, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd will now upgrade the Vitara Brezza with the all new 1.5 K15B petrol engine. This is the same engine that powers the new Maruti Ciaz facelift and this engine will only power the upcoming 2018 Maruti Etriga. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol powered variant is likely to be launched by Diwali this year and it is expected to be priced at Rs 7 lakh, which implies that the petrol powered variant will be cheaper than the diesel power variant by Rs 70,000.
The 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine powering the Vitara Brezza produces a power of 88.5 HP at 4000 rpm and produces a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. Transmission options include both five speed manual and automatic gearbox. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol variant will be powered to a 1.5 litre hybrid petrol motor, which is currently tuned to output 103.5 HP at 6000 rpm and 138 Nm at 4400 rpm. This engine will develop the same power and torque when it will power the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The expected mileage is in the range of 21 kmpl via manual transmission. The latest Smart Hybrid Vehicle System is the most fascinating thing about this engine. SHVS essentially does three things – switching off the engine while at trffic signal, assists engine in performing better and regenerative braking which recharges the battery under braking.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol version is likely to receive an AMT unit. The car will also come equipped with safety features including cruise control, reverse parking sensors as standard, seat belt reminder for the front passengers, and smart safety assit [speed alarm which alerts by a beep sound on crossing 80 kmph]. Besides that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza gets other safety features like ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard across the range.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is one of the best selling compact SUV in the Indian markets. Currently the diesel powered trim competes with the Tata Nexon, which is offered in both petrol and diesel motor powered options. When launched, the petrol powered Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza with AMT unit will rival on the likes of Tata Nexon petrol AMT.
