Maruti Suzuki: Maruti Suzuki has debuted its first AGS tech or AMT version in the hatchback model, Celerio which was rolled out in the year 2014. After that, the company launched many other models equipped with this feature. At present, the auto manufacturer has many products which are equipped with AGS technology exclusively in India. These vehicles have got a great response in the country and have many interested buyers. Maruti Suzuki is one of the car makers which have reported a huge sales increase in the country. Celerio, WagonR, Alto K10, Ignis, Swift, Dzire and the all-new Vitara Brezza are all vehicles which come with an AMT option.
According to recent reports, Maruti has successfully delivered about 3 lakh units which highlighted the automatic manual transmission in India. Besides offering the AMT option, the company also sells those models at an engaging price which also attracted the customers at large extent. Swift, Dzire and the Ignis are sold in standard AMT for diesel as well as petrol powertrains. After the launch of 2014 Celerio, the company sold almost 43% units till now which were sporting AMT feature. On the other hand, they delivered 28 percent and 17 percent of Ignis and Dzire, respectively.
Regarding the big achievement of the Auto Gear Shift technology, R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing, and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, stated, “At Maruti Suzuki, we believe in providing our customers with the best of technology and convenience. The revolutionary Auto Gear Shift technology is one such innovation that offers comfort and ease of driving to the customers with no compromise on fuel efficiency. It has achieved wide acceptance among customers”.
He further added “Crossing 3-lakh retail sales mark within five years of its introduction is a reflection of the success and consent of the customers for the two-pedal technology. With enhanced awareness and deeper penetration, we aim to sell over 200,000 cars with AGS in 2018-19.” The AMT actuator technology of the company is based from the Magneti Marelli, a company which exhibits and produces advanced equipment for the big automotive manufacturers. Maruti has combined the AMT option with the powerful 5-speed gearbox transmission. The feature accommodates well with the amazing remarkable high-performance offered by its vehicles.
Moreover, Suzuki also declared, “In FY2017-18, the sales of the AMT have increased with a surprise as well as a remarkable percentage which was very low in the FY2014-15”. So, it seems that the interest for the AMT models has increased in recent year in India. With the launch of the latest Vitara, the company hopes to sell more than 2 lakh units of AMT in the next financial year. Many automobile giants are also showing impressive sales growth in AMT variants like Tata, Mahindra, and Renault.
