Maruti Suzuki is the No. 1 selling car manufacturer in India, came 4th in the list of most recall in India history. So, yet another recall has come out od Maruti’s stable. The issue is in petrol models with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki), a safety risk in it’s Motor Generator Unit (MGU). MGU in hybrid vehicles replaces a conventional starter and alternator to a single electronic device.

Those vehicles are found ok, will be released immediately by the company. All this will be done free of cost, and Maruti also said that it will provide alternate vehicles to customers if required.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Ciaz and XL6 use 1.5L, 4-cylinder K15 engine that makes 103 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. The Smart hybrid system in this engine gets a dual-battery setup. An extra lithium-ion battery is under the front passenger seat. It uses ISG for better efficiency, and this is the part responsible for the recall.
While the recall is not something good to hear if you have purchased any of these cars in the specified time period. But Maruti Suzuki is handling it very well, and owners with the issue will be rectified soon without any cost.
