Maruti Suzuki is developing an all-new seven-seater MPV Wagon-R which is expected to hit the Indian market next month. The large MPV model will be retailed via NEXA showrooms. The company will boost the size of the new model along with modern features and new stylish design. The cabin will be equipped with new comfortable seats and new features as well. Hence, the company has decided to sell the new stylish car in NEXA showroom and not through ARENA.
Maruti Suzuki has developed the 7-seater MPV with a larger wheelbase which enhances the 3-rows seating arrangement. The fourth-gen WagonR was launched with a new appearance and it was built in a HEARTECT platform. The updated version can be powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that will make 82 BHP of power and 114 Nm of peak torque.
The engine will be combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox and it will be offered in AMT option also. The company will release the sub-four-metre MPV with a new title. The upcoming Wagon R-based MPV was previously rumoured to be called ‘Solio’. However, we are not sure as the announcement is not officially from Maruti Suzuki. The MPV was debuted at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The company will sell the new car as the premium variant. It will be integrated with new touchscreen navigation and infotainment system in the top-specs variant. The current-gen Wagon R has not noticed a good sales mark in recent months so, the introduction of the new car in the range can be a good idea. It will improve sales as the new-gen model will meet the current demands of the customers.
The reports also suggest that the MPV can be offered in a hybrid or electric variants as well. The MPV has been positioned below Ertiga in the company’s range. It is expected to be priced between Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom). After the official launch, it will rival against the likes of Datsun GO+ and the upcoming Renault Triber MPV. The upcoming Triber will be offered in the same price range and will be offered with a removable third-row arrangement.
