April 1 marks the implementation of new safety regulations by the Government of India. This new regulation mandates ABS in all cars along with other features from the month of July. The latest vehicle to receive much-needed safety updates is the new Maruti Suzuki Eeco. Maruti is now also providing some major safety features in the Eeco.
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco now gets ABS as standard. It also gets ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and a seatbelt reminder for the front two passengers. All this covers the basic safety requirements as mentioned in the regulations.
With all the new gear, we can also expect a slight bump in the price. The van now comes with a cost of INR 3.71 Lakh to INR 6.69 Lakh (ex-showroom). However, the new Maruti Suzuki Eeco does not get any other new features.
|Variant||Old Price||New Price|
|5-seater Standard||Rs 3.37 lakh||Rs 3.52 lakh|
|5-seater Standard CNG||Rs 4.10 lakh||Rs 4.25 lakh|
|5-seater AC||Rs 3.70 lakh||Rs 3.92 lakh|
|5-seater AC CNG||Rs 4.43 lakh||Rs 4.65 lakh|
|7-seater Standard||Rs3.57 lakh||Rs 3.80 lakh|
The van gets two engine options – petrol and CNG (optional). The petrol variant runs on a 1,196cc BS6 compliant engine. This produces a maximum power of 73.42 PS at 6,000 rpm and also 101 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. The CNG engine, on the other hand, produces 62.54 PS at 6,000 rpm and also 83 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. Both the engines come with a 5-speed manual transmission. The CNG variant offers a much lower running cost in comparison to the petrol variant. The petrol engine is good for 15.37 kmpl efficiency while the CNG engine runs 21.94 km for every kg of the gas. This is thanks to Maruti’s Engine Management System (EMS).
The new Maruti Suzuki Eeco is available through Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships across the country.
