The first week of August is going to mark the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz 2018. The pre-bookings of the Sedan will begin from the end of July. The car was launched back in 2014 and has not seen much upgradation or changes since then.
The Ciaz will draw power from a 1.3 litre Fiat-sourced diesel engine producing 88 Ps power and 200 Nm torque, as they decided against upgrading the engine to a in-house Suzuki developed 1.5 litre one, or a 1.5 litre hybrid engine producing 91-105 bhp power and 130-138 Nm torque. A six speed CVT automatic gearbox will also be tagged along. There is no change in the interior designing of the car , and it remains same as the previous version of it.
The exterior will have some changes in the front and the rear portions. Revised fascia with a new front bumper, new chrome grille, fog lamps, dual tone rear bumper with chrome inserts and new alloy wheels are some of the expected changes in the Ciaz 2018. The wheelbase is also expected to lengthen to 2650 mm which is longer than its competitiors. The Ciaz will give a mileage of 20.73 kmpl for the Petrol version and 28.09 kmpl for the Diesel version. The boot space will be 510 litre for the five seater, power steering sedan, which is quite adequate. The tyre specification is 195/55 R16. The kerb weight is reported to be 1115 kgs. The front brake is of ventilated disc type and the rear one is a drum brake.
The car is supposed to come with safety features such as standard dual airbags and ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder, reverse parking camera and sensor, seat belt pre tensioner and force limiter. The present version of the Ciaz costs Rs. 8- 12 lakhs and the new model is expected to come at a higher price. The car will be available in 5 trims , Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha and Sport. The available colours for the car are, Pearl metallic red, Nexa blue, Pearl metallic dignity, Metallic silky silver, Metallic glistening grey, Pearl midnight black and Pearl snow white. The Ciaz is seen as an opponent to the Honda City facelift and the Hyundai Verna.
