Maruti Suzuki Celerio made its mark in the Indian market after its launch back in 2014 and continues to be one of the top-selling cars to date. Now latest spy shots show the next generation of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio.
The Celerio revolutionized the automatic transmission with the introduction of the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox. It made the automatic option more affordable and approachable to everyone. However, the hatchback is getting dated and in need of a refresh. The spy shots partially show the new redesign of the Celerio. The car is heavily covered but we can still make out certain points.
The new refresh of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio has a bigger footprint compared to the current model. This will translate well into improved cabin space, legroom, and boot space. The ride also seems to be jacked up slightly. The new Celerio is expected to be built on Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect platform that underpins its new cars. New small cars to be underpinned by this platform include the S-Presso, WagonR, Swift, and Baleno. The engine options will be similar if not the same. The current Celerio runs on 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good for 66bhp @ 6,000rpm and 90Nm @ 3,500rpm.
