Maruti Suzuki is back in action after the whole Covid-19 situation which led to the downfall in sales for every manufacturer. They have shared the sales number for August 2020 indicating a great comeback from the manufacturer.
So for August 2020, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 124,624 units! It’s 15.3% more than the July 2020 sales and in fact, it is 17.1% more compared to August 2019. Out of 124,624 units, 115,325 units are domestic sales. While 1,379 units are sold to other OEM, Toyota Glanza and soon the Toyota Urban Cruiser will join these sales figures.
The export number stands at 7,920 units which 15.3% less than August 2019. Further looking at the different segments, we can see for the mini segment (Alto and S-Presso), both of them together sold 19,709 units compared to 10,123 units last year. The main reason for this 94.7% increase is the introduction of the S-Presso. Coming to the compact segment which includes WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Tour S, and Dzire sales figure stood at 81,665 units, which is an increase of 14.2% over 2019.
While the Ciaz went downhill with a decline of 23.4% compared to the previous year. Both Vans (Omni, Eeco) sold 9,115 units combines, an increase of 53%. While other utility vehicles such as Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, XL6, and Vitara Brezza sold 21,030 units.
So except for the sedan segment (Ciaz), all other segments have performed better than they did last year. We hope to see these figures continue for the upcoming months. Also, let us wait for the sales figures of other manufactures to come out and see how they performed.
