While Maruti’s next car, the S-Presso Micro SUV is weeks away from launch, the undisguised photos have surfaced online. We can confirm that the S-Presso will be available in four variants when it goes on sale. Pricing and exact variant information of the car will be announced on September 30th. The S-Presso is based on the Future S concept that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The production car carries forward the boxy and upright stance of the concept car. The car erm.. The Micro SUV will come equipped with the BS6 compliant version of Maruti’s K10 petrol motor. The engine is rated at 68 hp and 90 Nm of torque in the BS 4 form. While the engine will be paired to a 5 speed manual transmission, top of the line variants will also be available with an AMT gearbox. Though its Rival, the Renault Kwid is available with two engine options, the S-Presso will have only the K10 motor.
The S-Presso carries forward the boxed-out design philosophy seen on the Future S Concept. It also has chunky front and rear bumpers that accentuate the SUVish look. While we do not have any interior pictures, the S-Presso will have a central mounted, fully digital instrument cluster. Interior will sport a dark grey theme, combined with color co-ordinated design elements as seen on the concept.
In terms of dimensions, the S-Presso measures 3565mm x 1520mm x 1564mm (L x W x H). The wheelbase measures 2380mm. Though the dimensions are larger than the Alto K10, the S-Presso falls shorter in comparison with its rival, the Renault Kwid, barring the height. The S-Presso will be sold alongside the Alto K10, but will be priced higher. Expect the pricing to be in the 3.4 – 4.7 lakh range
