Ahead of its launch on September 30, Maruti’s micro SUV, S-Presso was spotted testing yet again. Though the test mule was camouflaged, it was seen wearing production parts. A few days ago, pictures of the car leaked online, revealing exactly how the production version would look. The S-Presso carries forward the design philosophy of the Furture S Concept, albeit in a boxed out fashion.
The S-Presso stands 1,564mm, taller than its rivals, yet is narrower than them. At the front, the bonnet line is rather high and flat. The fenders get blinkers on them, which is pretty old-school. The old school charm is carried forward to the door in the form of flat paddle handles. While we do not have any interior pictures, the S-Presso will have a central mounted, fully digital instrument cluster. Interior will sport a dark grey theme, combined with color co-ordinated design elements as seen on the concept.
This Micro SUV will run on a 1.0-liter, 3 cylinders K10B petrol engine. This is the same as the one in the Alto K10 and produces 68hp and 90Nm of torque. The on the S-Presso though, will be the BS VI complaint version of the motor. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and also an AMT option. The car will be going up against the Renault Kwid, Datsun Redi-go and also the Tata Tiago.
The Micro SUV will be sold alongside the Alto K10, but will be priced higher. Expect the pricing to be in the 3.4 – 4.7 lakh range
During launch, the S-Presso will be available in four variants. The color options at not known at the moment, but expect a handful of palettes to be available, including some flashy colors.
