Mahindra brings in a new variant of their XUV500 – W3. This base variant of the new Mahindra XUV500 loses some features to a lower price. It also barely undercuts the price of the Tata Harrier, its main competitor.
Mahindra XUV500 W3 – What’s different?
The new XUV500 now comes in at Rs 12.2 lakh. This is over Rs 50,000 cheaper than the W7 variant. So what is different? For starters, the car now does not have alloy wheels. It is replaced with cheaper 17-inch steel wheels without wheel caps. Yikes! LED DRLs are also absent. All the body claddings and chrome elements are also absent. The exterior just has one paint color all over with no accents. Also, the rear windshield does not get a wiper and a washer.
Coming to the interiors, it is bare bones basic. It gets all black interiors with no soft-touch materials to accentuate it. Mahindra is not even offering an audio system in this trim. Other than that, the car still gets some good features for the price. It still has projector headlamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs, front and rear air conditioning, power windows, engine immobilizer, and also disc brakes and all wheels. Safety features like dual front airbags and ABS with EBD are also on offer.
The Mahindra XUV500 W3 is similar to the other variants under the hood. It runs on a 2.2 liter turbocharged diesel engine. This motor is capable of producing 155bhp power and also a nice 360Nm of torque. This is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission gearbox.
