Mahindra XUV 300 has been a successful car in the compact SUV category. With monthly sales over 4000 each month, the XUV 300 is doing well for Mahindra. However, due to the Hyundai Venue bringing more heat in the segment, Mahindra is looking forward to launching the XUV 300 AMT.
Mahindra is planning to launch the AMT variant of the XUV 300 somewhere around this month. Though No date is been provided from Mahindra yet. Also, all other vehicles in the compact SUV segment do offer automatic transmissions, so this seems like the right time to bring out the XUV 300 AMT.
The AMT unit will be sourced from Magnetti Marelli and will come to the Diesel variant, and maybe wit petrol variant too. It will have the option to manually control the gears. The car is powered by a 1.5 Litre diesel engine which offers 115 BHP at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1500 – 2500 rpm and a 1.2 litre, 4 cylinder turbo petrol motor churning out 110 BHP at 5,000 rpm & 200 Nm of torque at 2000-3500 rpm.
XUV 300 comes loaded with features such as Steering with 3 modes, comfort, normal and sports mode heated ORVMs, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, push-button start, a tyre pressure monitor, a tyre position display, Dual-zone climate control, Auto-dimming IRVM, automatic headlamps and wipers, and cruise control. The top model gets 17-inch alloys.
With the introduction of AMT, the price for the AMT counterpart will be 50,000 to 60,000 more. As of now the XUV 300 starts at Rs 7.90 Lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes up to 10.8 Lakhs. It competes with segment leader Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the newcomer Hyundai Venue and the safest Tata Nexon.
