As the world continues to fight the deadly coronavirus, heartwarming incidents do happen around the world. It is during testing times like this, that resilient minds come together to achieve a breakthrough. Earlier we reported that the Mahindra group will look to develop a ventilator – crucial medial equipment in the fight against the Coronavirus. Mahindra Group Chairman had also tweeted, offering to convert the Mahindra Holidays resorts into Corona care centers. He had also constituted a fund to help those are worst affected by the lockdown.

Now, in a record time of about 48 hours, heroes at Mahindra have developed a working prototype of a ventilator. Amid the lockdown, Mahindra’s hard-working team confined themselves to the factories at Mumbai and Igatpuri and got to work. Without proper sleep, they readied the prototype of a ventilator in record time. The team will now seek advice from specialists and continue to build more prototypes and a fully finished product is expected to be ready in the next 2-3 days. Currently, ventilators cost somewhere between 5-10 lakhs, whereas the ones that are developed by Mahindra will cost somewhere around INR 7500. They are also compact and take up little space. Going forward, Mahindra will take up help from experts to determine the usefulness of the device.

In the most serious cases of the corona positive cases, patients would not be able to breathe on their own and will require a ventilator, which is used to pump oxygen in and out of the lungs. Globally other car manufacturers such as Ford, Tesla and General Motors also have offered to make ventilators.
