Mahindra has finally launched the all-new limited-edition model of the off-roader, Thar 700. The company will produce only 700 units of the all-new SUV. They have also decided not to develop the new variant in future as the company has already commenced the development of new-gen Thar, which is scheduled to come in 2020. The limited edition, Mahindra Thar 700 has been introduced at a price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The all-new, Thar 700 SUV is introduced to celebrate the 70 years old legacy of Mahindra. The company has launched its first vehicle in the year 1949. The new model is available in a new shade, Aquamarine which will join the existing Napoli Black shade. It is equipped with an all-new front grille. It sits on the latest 5-spoke alloy wheels. It has been designed with side decals and hood with a silver coating on the front fender.
The SUV is integrated with traditional company’s badge, but it is now signed by Mr Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group. The cabin of new limited edition variant remains the same compared to the standard version, but it has been updated as well which make it different. We can notice the same beige scheme at the cabin along with painted door frames and B-pillar. It is equipped with comfortable leatherette seat covers with Thar badge as standard.
Mahindra Thar 700 is powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder diesel motor that makes 105bhp of max power at 3800rpm and 247Nm of peak torque between 1800-2000rpm. The engine is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission only. The interesting concept of the all-new Thar 700 will attract the young-gen buyers with its striking looks. Although, you have to hurry if you want to park this off-roader in your garage.
The bookings have been commenced on the official Mahindra SYouV website of the company and at all the showrooms. The SUV is developed with ABS as a standard safety feature. Although, it has missed some important safety features like driver airbag, a passenger seat-belt reminder or rear parking sensors as the limited edition variant has been produced before July 1, 2019 norms which will make these features mandatory for cars.
Commenting on the new launch, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We are delighted to introduce the last 700 units of our iconic off-roader, Thar, in its current avatar. We believe that the enthusiasts will see it as their last chance to own a piece of this Mahindra legacy, as a must-have garage collectable. The Thar is clearly an extension of our 70 years legacy and what brand Mahindra stands for. Over the years, it has successfully shaped the lifestyle vehicle segment while being popular with the off-road tribe.”
