The Mahindra S201 will be named on the first of the coming month. The XUV is based on a Ssangyong Tivoli and is basically going to be named following the concept that it has to end with an ‘O’ sound. The only exception has been the Alturas in the naming tradition. It is going to follow the footsteps of the XUV300.
The S201 will be equipped with dual-zone climate control system, a sunroof, a neat touchscreen system, premium upholstery, an informative MID system, push button start, cruise control and a variety of automatic features. Projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and smart looking alloys will also find its place on the beauty. The base variant might not get all the luxuries but will still be a taste.
A 1.5-litre, four cylinder diesel and a 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine will be offered. The diesel one will churn out 123 hp mated to a six speed manual transmission system. The car might have some automatic gearbox on offer but the manual one is confirmed from the spy images. Multiple airbags, disc brakes all around, and ABS and ESP will take care of all the safety requirements.
The car will launch sometime early in the coming year, with a price tag around Rs.15 lakh for the top spec variant, around the Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Creta. It might be a competition to the Tata Harrier, which is also a fancy SUV. Lets wait for the name giving event till Saturday for the details and the further specifications to come up. The SUV enthusiasts do have a lot of options to choose from now. Lets keep our fingers crossed for the grand naming ceremony and later when the car is finally launched the next year.
