Mahindra Marazzo MPV will be launched in India in the upcoming festive season. This all new MPV will be launched globally and is designed by the collaboration of Mahindra India and American research divisions. With the launch of the Mahindra Marazzo is making a positive attempt at the multi purpose vehicle segment. Following this MPV, Mahindra will continue with the manufacture of the other premium onslaught SUV which is going to be based on the Mahindra Marazzo.
Mahindra Marazzo will be a 7 seater SUV which is to be postioned between the Toyota Innova and the new Maruti Ertiga. Once launched the Mahindra Marazzo will be Mahindra’s lightest, longest and largest car with wider dimensions. Therefore it is positioned such because Marazzo is as large as Toyota Innova and cheaper than it as well. Mahindra will use this base for engineering large and luxurious cars in the future. The company’s SUV are likely as well to be developed based on this platform. Moreover, Mahindra is working to introduce electric vehicles and hybrids based on the same platform. According to Mahindra, this platform will be a modular one with a lifecycle of 10 – 15 years and with this the company has begun entering into the premium car segment.
By the end of this year the Mahindra is going to launch another premium car, the rebadged second generation SsangYong Rexton codenamed as aka XUV700. Another upcoming launch of Mahindra will be a sub 4 metre compact SUV which is likely to be sold through the company’s premium zone. Currently, Mahindra has an all SUV portfolio in India after the discontinuation of Mahindra Verito and Mahindra Verito Vibe. The company has reveled its interest in shifting towards premium car segment from regular mass market cars and therefore Mahindra is focusing on the makeover of its prime zones to facilitate upcoming premium cars.
The Mahindra Marazzo will be powered to the newly developed 1.6 litre turbo diesel engine. The transmission options for this car include both automatic and manual gearbox. A turbo petrol engine variant is likely to be launched later whose specifications are yet unknown. Moreover, the Mahindra Marazzo will feature a standard front wheel drive layout.
