Mahindra launched the much awaited Mahindra Marazzo MPV back in September 2018. Also, with very competitive pricing, the car is proving to be quite successful for the company. At the time of launch, the car was only available with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, Mahindra is gearing up to launch a new variant with an automatic gearbox.
Mahindra was earlier expected to introduce the AMT gearbox along with a new BS VI engine. But as it is still quite further in the future, they will introduce the Magnetti-Marelli sourced AMT gearbox on the Marazzo soon to bridge the gap. However, the BS VI engine variant will get an Aisin sourced torque converter instead.
Introducing an AMT gearbox in the Marazzo will help it to compete better against its rivals like the Ertiga. The new AMT variant will likely be available by sometime next month.
Mahindra developed the engine in the Marazzo in-house and along with the engineering teams at its North-American unit and Italian design house Pininfarina. The car is running on a new 1.5-liter diesel engine. This in-house motor by Mahindra produces 123 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Most noteworthy is the claimed fuel efficiency of 17.6kmpl.
On the feature front, the Marazzo has a lot up its sleeves. The top spec model gets LED DRLs, projector headlamps with a follow-me-home feature, and cornering lamps. It also runs on 17-inch machined alloy wheels. It also sports a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, reverse parking camera, automatic climate control, cooled glovebox with illumination.
