Mahindra & Mahindra recently launched the Mahindra Marazzo at a great price. Starting at INR 9.99 lakh this is a great value for money car in this segment. The Marazzo is a unique car which follows a sharp inspired design theme. Mahindra has tried to give this car their best. Here we will take a look at the top reasons this car is gaining popularity.
The Marazzo falls under the premium category according to Mahindra. This means they have tried to include the best features available in this MPV. The most striking feature in the Marazzo’s cabin is the roof mounted air-con system. This is an ingenious idea as it allows proper air flow to all the three rows. Also, the roof mounted unit stretches up to the last row offering a good A/C experience to all the passengers. Further, it gets two different A/C modes – direct and diffuse. Direct mode blasts air directly at the passengers. On the other hand, diffuse mode sends drafts of cooled air at regular intervals.
The top spec model gets LED DRLs, projector headlamps with a follow-me-home feature, and cornering lamps. It also runs on 17-inch machined alloy wheels. It also sports a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, reverse parking camera, automatic climate control, cooled glovebox with illumination.
The car also gets standard safety features such as dual front airbags, industry-first disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS, ISOFIX child seat mounts and impact sensitive door locks.
The cabin of the Marazzo is extremely spacious. Third-row comfort is also top-notch. The third row is extremely usable, unlike many other three bench MPVs in the segment. This is because of the flat floor thanks to the front wheel drive system. Mahindra Marazzo is built on an entirely new platform and has the largest footprint of any of its vehicles till date. It has a long wheelbase of 2760mm. Also, the transversely mounted engine and front-wheel drive configuration allow more space in the cabin.
3. Engine, Performance, and Driveability
The Marazzo is running on a new 1.5-liter diesel engine. This engine produces 123 PS and 300 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. It can do a 0-100km/h sprint in only around 10.5 seconds. Although petrol engine and automatic options are not yet available, Mahindra plans to introduce them later on when BS6 emission norms are standardized. Mahindra claims a fuel efficiency of 17.6kmpl.
The MPV has a kerb weight of 1650 kilograms. It measures 4585mm in length, 1866mm in width and 1774mm in height. Despite its rather big design, the car is a breeze to drive. This is thanks to the light and responsive steering. It gets an electronic power steering unit which weighs down nicely at higher speeds.
