Mahindra has recently added the most top-specs SUV called Alturas G4. The SUV is offered in two variants that include Alturas G4 2WD and Alturas G4 4WD. By the name Alturas, the vehicle is built with pinnacle or height which is a great title obtained by a brand-new SUV. It is the toughest SUV released in the market. It will be the most capable rival for all existing opponents in the SUV range, especially the Toyota Fortuner. The prices for the vehicle starts from Rs 26.95 lakh and goes high to Rs 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The G4 K-NCAP (Korean) crash test video of the new Mahindra SUV has surfaced online which reveals the toughness of the dashing car. Along with an appealing appearance, the vehicle is equipped with many high-end safety features which make it one of the most capable SUV in the current automotive market. In the international market, the vehicle is available as Mahindra Inferno in certain global markets where the Alturas has obtained a five-star safety rating in the highly-referred crash test.
As you all know, the all-new Aulturus is based on the SsangYong Rexton G4 which is an ongoing variant of the company. The Rexton range is the most popular model of the company which has received a five-star safety rating in 2017 Korean New Car Assessment Program (K-NCAP). Hence, the company has offered some similar safety features in the Alturas G4.
The all-new Alturas runs on a 2.2-litre diesel powertrain which generates 178 bhp of power at 4,000 rpm and 420 Nm of peak torque between 1,600 to 2,600 rpm. The motor is combined with a 7-speed automatic transmission and there is also a 4×4 on offer. The company has developed the engine as a euro-6. It is outfitted with 18-inch alloy wheels and wide roof rails.
The new Mahindra SUV features an ultra-high strength steel quad frame arrangement. The K-NCAP safety test included Frontal Crash Test, Side Impact Test, Offset Frontal Impact Test. Braking Test (wet and dry), Pedestrian Protection (legform and headform) and Seat Stability Test. The SUV is integrated with nine airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Active Rollover Protection (ARP), Hill Start Assist (HSA), ABS+EBD+BAS, Hill Descent Control (HDC), ISOFIX child seat mounts and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). These features are present as standard which is absolutely worth its price.
Some additional features of the vehicle include ORVMs with turn signal lights, wraparound LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler with brake lights. In the cabin, the car gets a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The premium cabin also features dual-zone fully automatic climate control, 8-way adjustable powered driver seat with memory. The Alturas G4 compete against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
