After the grand success of KTM Duke 125, the Austrian bike maker has decided to launch another small-displacement bike, RC 125 in India. The Duke 125 has received an amazing response in the country which wasn’t expected. The company will launch another version of the range as the engine will be the same. The official launch is scheduled to take place in the month of June this year.
The RC125 will run on a small-displacement but offers great performance on the Indian roads. The bike has been recently spied testing in the country. We already have a glimpse of the bike thanks to the spy shots. The RC 125 is a fully faired version of the standard model. It has received a bold and striking look from the side section. It is outfitted with projector headlamps.
Mechanically, the new version will be similar to the existing variant. In terms of suspension, it will feature 43mm inverted forks and a monoshock. It will come with 300mm disc with a radial calliper at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear. The braking will highlight a single-channel ABS as well. It will be introduced with a kerb weight of 160kg. The new KTM will be available at an affordable price which can improve the sales of the KTM range.
The company has already started developing the bike at KTM’s Chakan facility, near Pune. The international model of the bike is equipped with underbelly exhaust while the Indian-variant is expected to come with a side-slung system. It will be powered by the same 124.7cc single-cylinder engine, which is capable of making 14.5PS of peak power and 12Nm of torque. The engine is combined with a 6-speed transmission.
KTM RC 125 will be announced at a somewhat higher price compared to the Duke 125. In India, the Duke 125 is available at Rs 1.25 Lakh (ex-showroom). The price range is expected to be fixed between Rs 1.35 Lakh to Rs 1.40 Lakh. The company can also begin the official bookings from next week. After the launch, it will compete against the likes of Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3.0 in the Indian market.
