The KTM Duke RC 125 has been spotted tested in our country near Pune. After the success of the KTM Duke 125, the bike maker is working on the launch of the new RC 125. The Duke RC 125 is already on sale in the international auto markets. From the spy images, we can see the exhaust of the bike is different from the one seen on the International spec. The India based RC 125 gets an underbelly exhaust while the International spec model features a side slung unit.
The Duke RC 125 test mule features the same fuel tank color scheme as seen on the Euro spec model. The subframe and the body panels at the rear are also similar to the International spec RC 125. However, the difference is brought by the colour scheme of the fairing, which is finished in orange and white and the frame gets a black color scheme. The kerb weight of the bike is likely to be equal to that of RC 200 i.e, 160 kgs since the KTM Duke 125 and the KTM Duke 200 have the same kerb weight of 148 kgs.
The Duke RC 125 is likely to borrow its powering options from the India based Duke 125. Powering the KTM Duke RC 125 is a single cylinder, liquid cooled 124.7 cc engine. The motor churns out a power of 14.5 PS at 9,250 rpm and produces a peak torque of 12 Nm at 8,000 rpm. However, the Euro spec Duke RC 125 and the KTM Duke 125 delivers 0.4 PS power more. A six speed transmission comes mated to the motor.
The suspension duties on the new Duke RC 125 are likely to be handled by the inverted forks upfront and a monoshock at the rear. This hardware is similar to those seen on the Streetfighter. The braking hardware on the Duke RC 125 consists of 300 mm disc brake at the front and 230 mm disc brake at the rear. A single channel anti-lock braking system [ABS] feature is offered on the bike as standard. The upcoming Duke RC 125 is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 1.40 lakhs [ex showroom – Delhi]. Therefore, in terms of pricing the Duke RC 125 will lock horns with the Yamaha YZF – R15 Version 3.0, which is priced at Rs 1.39 lakhs [ex showroom – Delhi].
