The KTM Duke 390 adventure sport motorcycle will hit the Indian markets in 2019, and it has been confirmed by the manufacturing company itself. Mr Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, had spoken of this bike while launch of the RC series last year. The bike is expected to make a debut appearance at the Milan Motor Show in November 2018.
The Duke 390 adventure is most probably going to run on a 373 cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled motor, which it shares with the Duke and RC models, that churns out 43.5 PS of power and 37 Nm of peak torque. Amit Nandi – President (Probiking), Bajaj Auto Ltd. commented, “KTM is a niche brand for a select few. With the 390 Adventure, we would be making our long awaited entry into the niche premium dual-sport segment which is a very apt segment for Indian roads.” 1290 Super Adventure will be the inspiration of the Adventure 390, with the Rally Racing History lineage. The official statement issued by the KTM India, begins with the heading, “Upcoming model to be forged by KTM’s unparalleled Dakar Legacy”.
A simple trellis chassis featuring a flat and featureless swingarm is expected for the adventure 390. A large bikini fairing, with proper suspension options, high headlights, petal units serving as brakes and spoke wheels are a few of the striking features of the adventure motorbike. The front wheel is 19 inches and the rear one is 17 inches. Monoshock suspension is also an available option. ABS and Auto Headlamp on features are also introduced in the bike.
BMW G310 GS, Kawasaki Versys 300, Royal Enfield Himalayan and Suzuki VStorm are the rivals the Duke 390 Adventure will meet once it is launched. The price tag of the bike is most likely expected to be three lakhs rupees. A production-ready prototype of the 390 Adventure might be showcased at the Intermot (October). Bajaj-KTM facility in Chakan, near Pune is the place where the Duke 390 Adventure will be manufactured.
