KTM has finally launched the most-awaited big-capacity bike, 790 Duke in the Indian market today. The all-new KTM 790 Duke is now available at Rs 8.63 lakh (ex-showroom India). The popular bike maker has introduced the feature-packed and stylish bike which has grabbed the attention of bike enthusiast. The all-new KTM bike has been imported in the country through a Completely Knocked Down Kit (CKD) route.
In the Indian market, the KTM 790 Duke comply with the BSIV specs. For now, the company has brought only 100 units of the bike which will be locally constructed in Bajaj-Chakan plant. The bike has got a special name, Scalpel which is the first superbike offered by the firm. It is built in an all-new platform which makes it more powerful KTM bike. It gets a new tubular steel frame with a single piece aluminium rear subframe. So, it is not among those ordinary bikes from the Australian bike maker.
KTM India will begin the deliveries of the bike from 9 Indian cities first: Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. The delivery for bookings received from other towns will be commenced from April next year. To attract more customers in the Indian market, the company has announced attractive ownership plans/finance schemes for the new superbike.
The 790 Duke is powered by a 799cc parallel twin-cylinder liquid-cooled LC8 engine which is capable of producing 105 horsepower and 86 Nm of peak torque. The engine is combined with a six-speed transmission. Additionally, the superbike features Bosch Cornering ABS with Supermoto mode which highlights launch control, bi-directional quick-shifting function, four different riding modes (Sport, Street, Rain and custom Track), nine-level traction control with lean angle sensing tech, adjustable wheelie control and many more.
The naked streetfighter is outfitted with 17-inches alloy wheels along with Maxxis Supermaxx ST tyres. It is integrated with an all-digital TFT instrument console, LED head and tail lamps with the turn signal. It bike is the lightest model in the range with a kerb weight of just 169 kgs. It is built with a bi-directional quick shifter for clutchless up and downshifts.
In terms of suspension, it comes with WP based USD fork in the front and monoshock at the rear. The Braking duties are handled by a 300mm dual disc in the front and 240mm single disc at the rear with J.Juan callipers. The new bike has a completely new design highlighting a bold looking fuel tank, modified pitchfork LED headlamp, split seats, and a husky LED taillight. The front of the bike is really attractive which will attract young-gen buyers.

The 790 Duke will rival against the likes of Triumph Street Triple, Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900, and Ducati Monster 821. It is the most remarkable Duke launched in India which is a feature-packed model with awesome electronic highlights. KTM will soon release the upcoming 390 Adventure which will be showcased at the 2019 EICMA Show in Milan, to be held in November.
