Kia Motors has decided to discontinue various variants from its SUV lineup- Sonet and Seltos in India. The company has issued an official notification to its dealer partners dated 1.4.021 to stop accept bookings for the above-mentioned variants with immediate effect. The step has been taken based on the feedback and booking trend of their customers. The company in the past had also trimmed down various variants that did not attract its customers. As per the company, the revised list of various variants containing details will be officially communicated to the dealers some time later.
As per the information received the HTK Plus trim of Sonet in both- a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit paired to a DCT gearbox and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox will be discontinued. The HTX Plus trim of Seltos powered by the same 1.5-litre oil burner has also been discontinued.
Launch of the updated Sonet/Seltos soon
Earlier this year it was revealed by the company that it will soon update its Sonet and Seltos with their new logo. The company has already released the first teaser of it. The Seltos top trims will be updated with a panoramic sunroof in addition to the new logo.
The Sonet HTK Plus
The new HTK Plus trim of Sonet gets three powertrain options, these are as follows: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. This trim is now available with manual transmissions after the latest revision since the automatic variants have been shelved off. The turbo petrol unit comes with a 6-speed iMT, the NA petrol unit comes with a 5-speed manual and the diesel unit is paired with a 6-speed manual.
The trim has a few of the added features such as Power Adjustable ORVMs, a Multi-function Steering Wheel, all four power windows, touchscreen infotainment unit and power windows, automatic climate control. These features can attract the customers towards it. The starting price for these trims starts at Rs 8.55 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.69 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom).
The Seltos HTX Plus
If it is to mention about the seltos, the HTX Plus is only available to the customers with the 1.5-litre diesel unit. It will only be available with a 6-speed manual transmission post revision. The price of it is Rs 15.59 lakh at present time. The revised trim has features like UVO connected car tech, as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which houses Android Auto and Apple Car, a Bose 8-speaker stereo system, 8-way Driver’s powered seat, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, etc to allure the customers.
Seltos currently has few of the competitors like Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. To mention about the Sonet has a long list of rivals like Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Nissan Magnite to name a few.
