Kia Motors India has officially revealed the interior of the upcoming SP2i SUV in terms of sketches. It gives us a glimpse of the SUV’s interior features that looks somewhat similar to the SP Concept showcased at Auto Expo, last year. The SUV codenamed as SP2i is likely to be called Trailster or Tusker. It is expected to be officially launched on 20 June.
The company has already tested the production-ready version of SP2i at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh in January. The cabin was spied earlier which indicates a strong, tech-loaded and top-specs features. However, the company has recently confirmed some features of the cabin which looks really fantastic. The mid-SUV is designed with high-quality materials, broad patterns and technical designs which gives it an attractive and luxurious feel.
The interior is designed with metallic elements in the air vents. It is equipped with a broad dashboard which consists of new technologies. It aims at attracting young-gen buyers. It comes with a grab-bar on the passenger side of the centre console which gives it a sporty touch. The dash is integrated with an all-new 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system at the centre that can support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a navigation system, voice commands and more.
Moving down, you get a centre console with a digital screen highlighting heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system. It also features a single-zone auto climate control system, mobile phone slot, wireless charging, premium door pads and comfortable seats as well. The SUV gets faux aluminium highlights on the door pads, air-con vent and the centre console. The company has provided multi-colour LED mood lighting operated through the infotainment system.
Commenting on the cabin of the upcoming mid-SUV, Byung Chul Juh, Head of Kia Styling at Kia Motors Corporation, said, “We have focused on designing a cabin unlike any other in the mid-SUV segment, with a greater sense of depth and richness to the design. Our newest model will offer greater pleasure and satisfaction to our customers, with a premium-quality interior that benefits from sophisticated design details.”
Kia SP2i comes with a bold and attractive front. It is equipped with a large Tiger-nose grille along with a bold bumper. It also includes LED headlamps and taillights, 360-degree camera, head-up display (HUD) and lots more. It will be offered in both 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, combined with the 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic. It will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier and the Mahindra XUV500. Expect it to come at a price between Rs 10-16 lakh (ex-showroom).
