Kia Motor India has released an official teaser video of their new SUV – Kia Seltos. This video gives us an ever so slight sneak peek at the new car. It also mentions the global premiere date – 20th June.
The name is based on a Greek mythology word, Celtus, the son of Hercules. The company has replaced ‘C’ with ‘S’ which indicated ‘speed, sportiness, and strength’. The all-new model is based on the production version of the Kia SP Concept that was debuted at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The car was also spotted in production form recently. This shows us the design of the car in its entirety. The SUV gets Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille. It also sports a sharp and aggressive design language. The car will also be available in a dual tone color scheme with glossy roof and silver roof rails.
The new Kia Seltos SUV will run on a 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engine options. Both the engines will also be in compliance with the newer BS VI engine norms. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. A dual clutch automatic variant will also be on offer.
The cabin of the Kia Seltos is luxurious and also feature packed. It gets a large 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument console highlighting head-up display (HUD). The screen also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity along with navigation and voice commands features. Some other features include a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, in-car Wi-Fi, leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats, grab handle and many more.
After launch, the car will compete against rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and the latest MG Hector.
