How often does it happen that a new entrant in the Automobile Industry comes in Top 5 carmakers list in just three months after the launch of their first product? I tell you, not very often, especially in a competitive market like India, where Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai rule. And even the big names like Ford and Toyota are struggling quite a bit. Kia Seltos has done this for Kia.
Kia has turned all the odds and managed to secure a position in the top 5 list. Kia has sold a total of 12,850 unit of Kia Seltos in October 2019. And a total of 26,840 units sold in its run of just 70 days. The makes Kia have a market share of 4.5% in India. So what all SUVs have Kia Seltos left behind in sales? Everyone in the competition, surpassing Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Jeep Compass and XUV 500.
Kia Motors have scored more sales in October than Toyota, Renaut, Honda, Ford, Volkswagen, Nissan and Skoda. And keep in mind all these manufacturers have multiple cars and combined sales numbers and Kia went ahead of them with just Seltos. Kia has over 60,000 books for the Seltos. Being manufactured at Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh, Kia has also ramped up the production by starting a second shift.
While MG had also a great start with the Hector, Kia seems to steal the limelight. MG sold 3,536 units of Hector in October 2019. What lead to rising sales of the Kia is the overall package, good engine options as well as feature-loaded. Not even the Hector, Kia seemed to eat up the sales of its own sister company’s car ‘Hyundai Creta’.
Kia Seltos starts at Rs 9.69 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 15.99 lakh for the top-end variant. As for the sales, we can still look at this as the early trend of a new launch, Kia is still doing amazing for initial months, let’s see how well the sales settle down in upcoming months. Kia is doing extremely good with Seltos, and they have other products line up for India too, so there is now slowing down for Kia.
